Incidentally, although guesses have closed, Vic Young indicate a 1.4% share for October (September 1.12%) which if the market had remained the same (we would expect it to fall) would be over 4,500 registrations!

The market fell from the boom month of September to October. Still 1,892 registrations. I think I win. Looks like yesterday's post with the numbers got lost!

MG Motor UK beat most of the New Usual Suspects in the month, even Suzuki and Mazda, but is quite a way behind even Fiat and Dacia YTD heading for the year 2020 results. With dealers in varying lockdown modes (though still able to sell new cars and offer test drives subject to anti-Covid restrictions), even though sales for the month were massive compared to previous years. It would surely now be most bullish to imagine 20,000 sales in the year without some new EV break (but how could a sales increase be handled with showrooms closed, if you need to see and test the product?). Surely, Fiat, Dacia and Suzuki will stay ahead along with Mazda this year, though all those manufacturers, even the manufacturers of what seems to be the only two-seater roadster in production(!), need to look in their mirrors for 2021 bearing in mind that the MG behind them is much closer than they thought.

Time to start November 2020 guesses.
Nov 2019: 1,186
Oct 2020: 1,892
And bearing in mind the latest lockdown restrictions, we had and are still suffering a second lockdown in England (during which new car sales have been OK but no visits to showrooms) and, I believe, in Scotland. Wales, on the other hand, began November in a strict lockdown but came out of it halfway through.
April 2020, the first full month of the first UK lockdown, had only 45 MG registrations (though MG did beat Renault!)
My guess slightly depends on registrations of EVs. In the act of a Prime Minister certain he won't be around to clean up the mess, Boris has announced no new ICE registrations after 2030 and I believe that ZS EV has been making up at least 1/3 MG sales. However, I'm guessing the lockdown is a whammy for MG so I'm going to look up the number of the road from Maud Junction to Peterhead and go with that.

866. Down on last year for the first time IIRC. When I saw scrolling down that both Dacia and Fiat were in the 900s I went "woo". Both those marques are staying ahead of MG this year. And YTD 16.994, the 2020 total will be lucky to make 18k, still a record!

YTD look how close Fiat, Dacia and Suzuki are, only 4 between Dacia and Suzuki, and Fiat only 200 behind.

Incidentally as head of Peugeot I would see the costly Alfa Romeo project failing badly, certainly in the UK, and clashing with two other unsuccessful sporty marques from French Leyland. Sales YTD Alfa Romeo 1,822 (-43%); DS 2,136 (-41%); and Abarth 2,187 (-33%). I think DS is already in danger and might be joined by two more Triumphalikes.
